Broadway Rushers
a portrait series by Angela Gonzalez
Rush tickets are discounted day-of tickets available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some, not all, Broadway shows offer rush tickets. For those that do, they garner lines of people in the morning hopeful to enjoy a performance later in the day. “Rushers” refers to those people in line, and “rushing” is the act of waiting in line.
This photo series shares and highlights the everyday faces and stories of Broadway rushers. These include city locals, students, American tourists, and international tourists. These eager theatre-goers wait hours at a time, face all types of weather, and are bonded by their appreciation for the theatre.
